American Goldfinch. Today is the first day they've been at our feeder this year.
How wonderful, Ive been seeing them for two weeks now, I love my birdies, we even have some warblers around and they normally are not here in this region, I think the wierd weather has changed their behavior. (By the way,) I love the finch feeder you have...
I love the birdies too. The first finch feeder we had was plastic and it didn't hold up very long, so I found this one at Walmart. It's made of metal so it should hold up for a long, long time. I'm patiently waiting for the hummingbirds. I put their feed up two or three days ago. They usually show up about this time. Last year though, we hardly had any hummingbirds. I don't know why. Maybe there's something better for them nearby . . . I hope we get more of them this year.
I think you will see the hummingbirds real soon, I have already seen 3 of them, its so cool because I have the nectar right outside my back porch window and somtimes I'll see one hovering right there so close you can hear the humming of it's little wings.
I hope so. I really enjoy watching them. We have the feeder right outside the kitchen window. My son gave me an oriole feeder for Mother's Day and I had him hang it outside my sewing room window. There will be less "traffic" out there for them. We've got 2 feeders with seed and the finch feeder out by the kitchen window so there's lots of activity there.
Can you take a quick shot of your oriole feeder for me, and send it or take one of your fabulous photo's..... I have had a oriole hanging around here thinking he's a golden finch, but I would love to give him his own special feeder, only I havn't found one that works yet. I've even tried hanging oranges out and painted a feeder bright orange
Sure, I'll take a picture today and probably get it posted tomorrow for you. I'm surprised that the oriole hasn't gone for the orange. Maybe he's not the brightest. We had an oriole out the other day who landed on the oriole feeder than quickly flew over to the seed feeder and was eating seeds. I took some pictures of an oriole yesterday, but they didn't come out any good. They were blurred. It was rainy yesterday so I didn't go outside . . . I just shot from the kitchen window. If it doesn't rain today, I'll have to go outside and try some shots. When I was getting the coffee on this morning, I heard the oriole outside. I love their sound. To me it sounds like he's saying "Birdy".
I present today a collection of well known if not very popular to fairly unknown Russian Photographers and Models from the Photography > People and Portaits Galleries. See 5 pictures from 50 Russian artists!
